The Role

This position will manage a team and processes for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. S/he provides support for delivering on the technical solutions of a team along with hiring, coaching and assessing individuals to ensure they are effective team members. Additionally, s/he will collaborate with internal teams/stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the solution(s) are technically superior, a successful team culture is achieved, using available tools and industry best practices, ensuring work aligns with strategic and tactical goals.

Responsibilites

  • Advocates for and advances modern agile software development
  • Builds organizational capability within his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Builds partnerships with customers, suppliers, and internal/external stakeholders to understand long term vision and future engineering needs for planning horizon
  • Celebrates with the team - recognizes and rewards the team(s)
  • Champions and advocates for the adoption of the Agile Framework; Serves as an agent of change
  • Champions continuous learning and innovation, such as adoption of development and test automation, to strengthen the long-term success of team deliverables
  • Coordinates and coaches' individuals through goal setting, personal development plans and performance reviews
  • Creates and manages financial plans for training budgets and/or overall unit expenses
  • Develops people by helping them gain skills and knowledge needed to be successful in an agile delivery environment. Provides relevant technical coaching and support
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Establishes and implements individual and team priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure completion of responsibility for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Manages a team and processes for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manages and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manages and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manages assigned area(s) of responsibility to ensure workloads are appropriately balanced among team members.
  • Monitors team health using appropriate metrics and makes corrective action to improve overall team(s) performance
  • Partners with team on the technical design, development, and implementation of technical solution(s) while ensuring the technical solution is aligned with the strategic direction & intent of the work
  • Proactively works with other leaders to conceive team structure and seek opportunities to maximize agility and efficiency
  • Promotes an environment of inclusion and effective collaboration across the enterprise
  • Provides governance of technical and business best practices at Lincoln
  • Provides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Serves as a resource to team members and internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Shares the knowledge and experiences gained with teams across the organization and beyond their responsibilities
  • Supports individuals/team for technical problem identification, root cause analysis, and decision-making
  • Understands, teaches, and/or sponsors the engineering skills needed to support the development of high-quality code, components, systems and solutions aligned with the business and IT strategy
  • Works with architecture and agile teams to ensure system, technical, and product architectures are aligned with business objectives
  • Works with team to mitigate or eliminate technical impediments to team delivery and is a point of escalation for technical impediments
  • Works with teams to continually improve their technical processes and develop best practices for agile development that delivers value to our stakeholders

Education

4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required

Experience

  • 2+ Years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience. (Required)
  • 4+ Years experience that directly aligns with the responsibilities for this position including 2 years of Agile Experience and 1 years experience in waterfall project/program/ portfolio resource planning, reporting, & prioritization. (Required)
  • Cloud/Hybrid cloud implementation and operational experience a plus.
