Job Description
Primary Function:

Provide tactical and strategic oversight to the warehousing and logistics function in support of established safety, quality, service level, financial and efficiency goals. The position will develop strategies, business processes, departmental goals as well as measure performance for work activities that include receiving, put away, kitting, kanban, finished product packing, shipping and inventory control. This position will be responsible for supporting the business with material storage, controls, capacity and capability planning as necessary to scale with growth of business.

In addition, this position will be responsible for facility management, equipment management, preventative maintenance, repairs and calibration of the onsite manufacturing equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supervise a team of individual contributors with functional responsibility for performing ongoing receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, material handling, inventory control, packing and shipping duties.

Additionally, responsible for facility management, repairs, maintenance, and calibration of manufacturing equipment.

Develop and maintain all policies and procedures (SOPs, DOPs) related to plant warehousing, inventory control, logistics and facility management.

Design business solutions to meet the business needs

Develop and manage KPIs related to the area of accountability.

Lead strategic decision related to logistics carriers, distributors, and drive projects to improve efficiency and reduce cost

Collaborate closely with supply chain and establish Kanban, and safety stock requirements for raw material and finished goods.

Manage the facility, equipment, and calibration in accordance with the local, state, OSHA regulations, and internal procedures.

Develop processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of shipping documentation. Work closely with regulatory to ensure adherence to country specific shipping and documentation requirements.

Maintain inventory integrity, and oversee cycle count program in coordination with Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Production Planning functions.

Responsible for the space management and lead projects to optimize facility and space for efficient operations

Maintain FIFO and monitor the products in inventory for shelf life

Drive daily monitoring of shipping activities

Resolves bottlenecks and other operational problems that prevent a timely and efficient handling of inbound and/or outbound orders

Conducts analysis as required to investigate and determine root cause of compliance, quality or other performance failures and implements corrective actions as warranted.

People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas.

Hire, train, develop, and motivate personnel to follow procedures, meet high quality standards, production schedules, operations dept goals, and productivity requirements

Works and communicates directly with Finance and functional management to develop and meet operational budgets for headcount, depreciation and cost center spending.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Actively benchmarks and leverages lean oriented tools such 5S and Six Sigma to eliminate waste and help error proof transitional work.

Leads implementation of projects that lead to operational improvement goals and objectives (e.g., throughput, transaction accuracy, process controls, ergonomic, layout and other process improvement initiatives).

Owns management of workforce capacity and material space requirements planning processes. Responsible for developing 1-3-year operating models for the warehouse and inventory control functions.

Management of operations and resourcing necessary to support satellite warehouse and distributor locations.

Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements :

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of people management experience.

8+ years of related experience working in a warehouse/ logistics environment associated with a production facility.

Experience with food industry, biological products and cold shipping is a plus

Experience with international shipments is desired

Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and supervise operational teams

Proven ability to develop business processes and solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines, assist staff in prioritizing work and handle multiple projects.

Must be able to apply sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of routine issues.

Experience in leveraging lean process tools such as Six Sigma and 5S.

Skilled in MS word, excel and powerpoint.

Agile and SAP knowledge preferred.
