Manufacturing Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating production, taking the forefront in safety and quality, employee engagement and compliance with regulatory needs. The production supervisor will work with other team members to resolve production issues and employee relations concerns. This position requires a heavy floor presence (at least 75%), a good working knowledge of the equipment, processes, and process control systems. This role is for the first shift.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews timecards in e-time and addresses problems in a timely manner.
  • Reconciles w/o's (status 40).
  • Reconciles STs by shift end.
  • Conducts pre-shift meeting.
  • Reviews bin measurements at shift start. Alerts planner and operator(s) on potential shortages.
  • Creates SOPs.
  • Determines product disposition following quality guidelines.
  • Oversees plant operations from receiving to palletizing and shipping.
  • Conducts rounds at start, middle and end of shift. Addresses issues with operators.
  • Performs random quality checks.
  • Plans and manages shift. Looks at get big picture, provides help but is also willing to step back as to not neglect other operations.
  • Inspects assigned housekeeping areas.
  • Ensures line efficiency goals and production goals are met. Provides feedback on performance in a timely manner. Initiates corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensures shift tasks are executed by personnel. This includes cleaning work areas, dumping trash containers, grinding RPM totes etc.
  • Miscellaneous assignments based on plant needs
  • Ensures all company policies are followed. Initiates disciplinary actions in a timely manner.
  • Creates team environment. Focuses on shift performance but emphasizes overall plant performance.
  • Resolves issues in a timely manner. Reports issues that cannot be resolved to plant manager.
  • Completes housekeeping audit as assigned.
  • Interviews potential new hires.
  • Completes workday tasks as needed.
  • Maintains good rapport with subordinates and plant management staff. Maintains good morale on shift.
  • Rewards and recognizes team's contributions.
  • Holds individuals accountable.
  • Responsible for disciplinary actions, hiring, employee evaluations.
  • Works assigned weekends.
  • Travels to training as needed.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed and on short notice
  • Follows verbal and written instructions and other duties, as assigned by management

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience with leadership experience preferred
  • If no Bachelors Degree then 4+ years manufacturing experience with leadership experience preferred (preferably in feed or food).
