Mechanic I (Maintenance Technician)

Job Description
Just 65 miles from Center City Philadelphia, Allentown - or Lehigh Valley - is in close proximity to many of the major Northeastern U.S. cities, which makes it an ideal location for manufacturing and distributing consumer goods. We utilize thermal processing and high-speed canning to produce varieties of our Friskies, Mighty Dog and Alpo brands - brands we have carefully produced, packaged and shipped since 1955. Allentown balances the identity of a busy industrial city, as well as a beautiful rural environment that Nestl Purina is truly proud to call home.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, your role, in the bigger picture, is to manage the preventative and predictive maintenance to improve the functionality and safe working order of our manufacturing equipment and machinery. You will handle projects that span the electrical, mechanical and automation maintenance challenges. This position will be scheduled for an off shift (2nd or 3rd shift). So, if you're up for the dare to expand your career in the world of manufacturing, join our Purina Family. We'll always challenge you to think: "What's Next?"

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily maintenance operations of the plant as scheduled in a proper, timely, and safe manner.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical machinery and controls
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic problems
  • Assemble, install, test, and repair motor controls
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate scale systems.
  • Complete basic mechanical fabrication using welders and shop equipment
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience (Years/Type):

  • 1+ years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, technical, automotive or military environment OR 2 Year Technical Degree

It is our business imperative to remain a very inclusive workplace.

To our veterans and separated service members, you're at the forefront of our minds as we recruit top talent to join Nestl Purina. The skills you've gained while serving our country, such as flexibility, agility, and leadership, are much like the skills that will make you successful in this role. We hope you'll consider sharing in our mission--you'll join a cohort of others who have chosen to call Nestl Purina home.

The Nestl Companies are equal employment and affirmative action employers and look for diversity in qualified candidates for employment.

Prior to the next step in the recruiting process, we welcome you to inform us confidentially if you may require any special accommodations in order to participate fully in our recruitment experience. Contact us at accommodations@purina.nestle.com to notify of us of any needs related to completing the job application.
