KTNV 13 Action News, the Scripps ABC station in Las Vegas, NV, is searching for an experienced Multimedia Journalist/ Weekend Weather Anchor to join its team. You must be a great storyteller and know how to cultivate strong sources to enterprise fresh lead stories. You will also be responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports for the weekend newscasts.


  • Receives assignment or evaluates news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.

  • Gathers and verifies factual information regarding stories through interviews, observation, and research.

  • Organizes material, determines slant or emphasis, and writes story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.

  • Shoots video and still photos to illustrate stories.

  • Edits, or assists in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.

  • Appears on television program when conducting taped interview or narration.

  • Gives live reports from the site of event or mobile broadcast unit.

  • Work cooperatively with the photographer assigned to story, if one is assigned.

  • Assist news producer in preparing newscast.

  • Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.

  • Report, write, capture quality visual content, edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadlines, such as Internet and digital channels.

  • Responsible for analyzing meteorological data gathered by satellites and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for the public.

  • Interpret and analyze weather data to create local forecasts.

  • Report information live in scheduled newscasts, during unscheduled cut-ins, on-line and on social media as needed.

  • Develop graphics and presentation of weather information.

  • Report on a variety of subjects and write stories for broadcasts and sweeps pieces.

  • Participate in certain aspects of newscast anchoring including some copy delivery and interviewing.

  • Participate in community outreach projects.


  • Bachelors degree in broadcast journalism, or related degree, or equivalent years of experience.

  • 2 to 3 years of experience as a Multimedia Journalist.

  • 1 year of weather reporting experience preferred.


  • Knowledge of weather data interpretation and forecasting preferred.

  • Ability to deliver weather information in a concise and understandable way.

  • Ability to create computer-generated graphics.

  • Computer literate, including newsroom computer systems.

  • Proficient at posting content to various platforms.

  • Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
