The Network Architect I will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Vistras Generation Control System (GCS) network.

Job Description


The Network Architect I will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Vistras Generation Control System (GCS) network. The role will perform the necessary operational tasks related to the maintenance and security of Vistras GCS network while ensuring NERC CIP guidelines. The Architect I will work with vendors, service providers as well as IT application solution architects to support cross-functional business needs and align with longer term best practices.


Lead daily operational activities and measure process quality and compliance

Network support, design, and implementation

Engage business users, process owners, architecture and development teams to ensure effective application use and evaluate enhancements to deliver future value
Drive positive working relationships with technology teams, business teams, and vendors in order to promote alignment between functions
Design and create metrics for improved measurement and reporting
Create and update documentation
Apply Vistra value drivers to identify and deliver innovative value creation ideas
Identify opportunities to increase adoption and communication of TS processes through training and engagement
Apply understanding of financial principles to team initiatives and contribute to business case development for new ideas


10+ years professional experience in a technology or business field

2+ years of dedicated network & security experience with Palo Alto Networks
2+ years of network and/or security administration experience or equivalent combination of work and educational experiences
2+ years designing and implementing network and/or security solutions.

Experience working with NERC CIP Standards

In depth knowledge and a strong understanding of routing protocols specifically BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
Advanced knowledge of network and security technologies and concepts
Ability and desire to become certified in various technologies, i.e., CCNP, Palo Alto ACE
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Establish network & security support processes best suited to support business applications
Assist with change management procedures related to network & security infrastructure
Produce monthly metric reports on network & security performance
Manage and act as a contact for network & security related vendors
Ensure service level agreements align with business expectations
Document and maintain technical requirements for network processes .
Problem reporting/resolution as well as plans for disaster recovery and business continuity
