The Job Opportunity and Duties The Department of Youth Servicesprovides stability, support, safety, andsecurity for all employees of DYS.The Nurse will providevaluable experience and knowledge to the Department of Youth Services workforce.

DYS is seeking a Nurse to provide professional nursing &/or emergency health care to juvenile offenders housed in state-owned/operated facility/institution. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the nursing field.

Specifically, the Nurse will:

• Take & record vitals


• Draw blood & collects all ordered lab specimens and prepares them for pickup


• Administers required health care to include primary, secondary & tertiary care


• Observes, assesses and records symptoms, reactions & progress of youth under their care


• Responsible for completing and maintaining all medical records & reports for youth treated at Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility (CHJCF)


• Makes nursing rounds as needed; prepares and administers prescribed medications, treatments & immunizations as prescribed by physicians


• Provides immediate medical attention in emergency situations


• Develops and plans for individualized, specified health care needs for youth when required


• Provides regular health education to specific groups of juvenile offenders


• Assists contract medical providers during on site clinic hours.

Must meet the minimum qualifications for employment:

Requires current licensure as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Ohio Revised Code.
