Optimization Technician (Chilco) $1000 Incentive Pay

Responsible for meeting objectives by ensuring compliance with all standards, polices, and regulations for the safe, environmentally sound production of a quality product.


Essential Functions:


  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs

  • Develop optimizer systems knowledge and machine center calibrations

  • Ability to learn and assist in machine center alignments

  • Run Analyzer simulations on machine centers

  • Proficiently monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot all optimization systems

  • Ability to learn and implement QVR (Quality, Value, Recovery) programs

  • Interacts with plant management to define quality program execution

  • Reports all required quality summaries

  • Assist lead man in daily operations

  • Report maintenance problems and assist millwrights as needed

Other preferred Qualifications:


  • Lumber grading experience in accordance with WWPA rules and guidelines

  • Minimum of five years experience in lumber manufacturing to include log scaling and kiln drying knowledge

  • Knowledge of PLC and/or programming

  • Engineering background

  • Basic understanding of sawmill optimization software

  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a history of driving efficiency within an organization

  • Track record of prioritizing and managing projects and following through on issues in a timely manner

  • Must be able to work various shifts, days, and overtime as needed

  • High School Diploma or GED (or willingness to quickly obtain one as a condition of employment)

  • Valid Drivers License
