Job Description

SVB Capital seeks a senior leader to lead the firm's venture secondaries investing platform. This leader will play a critical role in building a new investment strategy leveraging the firm's strong investment track record and relationships in the venture industry. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership of the funds management business to set strategy, portfolio construction, underwriting requirements, sourcing approach and go-to-market strategy.

This individual will partner with internal SVB stakeholders and apply the value of the SVB platform to assess and access a variety of venture secondary opportunities (LP, Multi-LP, continuations funds, strip sales, etc.). Opportunity to expand the business into other areas of alternatives (ie growth equity and buyout).. The successful candidate will help shape the strategy and vision for the future of the platform and serve as a player/coach who empowers the team of high performing investment professionals. As this is a new dedicated strategy, the individual will be responsible for both constructing the portfolio and engaging with investors to raise dedicated funds (either co-mingled or separately managed accounts).

Experience Required:

  • 15+ years of private capital or similarly relevant investment experience preferred; execution of secondary transactions in the venture space; direct investing preferred but not required. Demonstrable track record of success with secondary investments from origination to exit.
  • Ability to deeply and thoroughly analyze and dissect venture capital assets. Significant experience with and relationships in industry sectors of interest to SVB Capital - namely technology, and other related industries connected to the innovation economy.
  • Experience raising capital from institutional investors
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience
