This Trauma Program Manger will be supporting the Pediatrics ED unit.


Responsible for the organization of services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care to both pediatric and adult patients. Assumes day-to-day oversight of and responsibility for process and performance improvement activities and assists the trauma and medical directors in carrying out the same functions for the physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates management across the continuum of trauma care and acute care surgery, including planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients, and serving as a resource for clinical practice.
2. Provides for intra-facility and regional professional staff development, participates in case review, implements practice guidelines, and directs community trauma and acute care surgery education and prevention programs.
3. Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs based on identified learning needs and emerging trends to ensure nursing staff is provided with the skill, instruction, and resources necessary to develop their roles. Works with Nursing Shared governance and Nursing leadership around educational needs for the nursing staff.
4. Functions as an expert clinician/practitioner for a select population of patients to ensure best practice, quality, and safety outcomes.
5. Monitors clinical processes and outcomes and system issues related to the quality of care provided. Develops quality indicators, audits and case reviews. Identifies trends and sentinel events. Helps outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
6. Manages the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the program. Represents trauma and acute care surgery on internal and external committees.
7. Collaborates to identify professional practice areas where change is needed. Creates and facilitates change.
8. Supervises collection, coding, scoring, and developing processes for validation of data. Design the registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports and research while protecting confidentiality.
9. Serves as an internal resource for all staff. Acts as liaison for all emergency medical services agencies.
10. Involved in research projects, analysis, and distribution of findings. Facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.
11. Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state, or national levels.
12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with 3 years of clinical nursing experience in critical care and trauma required.
Masters degree preferred
Either Bachelors or Masters degree must be in nursing.
Demonstrated ability to function independently in education and consulting capabilities as well as competency in teaching and quality/performance improvement.
Proven organizational/management/supervisory skills required.
Certification in specialty area (CEN, CCRN, TNCC, ATCN) preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Licensed Registered Nurse in New Hampshire required.
