Primary Purpose:

The perioperative assistant must have knowledge of safety in transporting, positioning of patient, and the care and maintenance of instrumentation. It is critical that the perioperative assistant have basic knowledge of aseptic technique and basic circulating skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills. Must have completion of a perioperative assistant class instructed by OR personnel.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Need to be conscientious, detailed, and have excellent organizational skills. Must be able to remain calm in the event of urgent and stressful situations.
