A Day in the Life

Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level specialists in Process Development to develop robust manufacturing processes for a new cardiovascular catheter product introduction team
  • Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results
  • Recognized expert, managing large projects or processes.
  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
  • Provides technical engineering support for developing manufacturing processes
  • Includes scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields
  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process specifications and technology target specifications
  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules
  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.
  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager
  • Represents organization as a primary contact for process development activities on project team; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels
  • Negotiates with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.

  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.

  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
  • This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in the medical device industry; cardiovascular and/or catheter experience preferred
  • High level proficiency of technical principles, theories, and design concepts in the field of medical device design
  • Proven leadership in implementing process engineering tools and practices in the development of new products - ie. DFSS/DFM, A3/DMAIC problem solving, DRM Green Belt
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software and applications
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), Fluent in English
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Has broad knowledge of project management
  • Self-starter and driver - able to execute effectively and work efficiently
