Basic Job Functions:

The disaster recovery (DR) Program Lead is responsible for coordinating, implementing, enhancing, monitoring and reporting on the progress of the enterprise disaster recovery management (DRM) program at First Solar. The objective of this program is to support IT systems' resilience and timely IT operations recovery, regardless of cause.

The primary goal of the Disaster Recovery Management program is, first and foremost, to prevent impacts and to rapidly restore data center operations and the availability of mission-critical applications and production data. Secondly, this program is meant to support key recovery objectives (RTO/RPO), IT infrastructure damage assessments, crisis communications, coordination with internal/external stake holders and timely recovery. This program support the operations and recovery of business applications and data that are sourced in the companys data center as well as applications and data hosted by cloud PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS service providers.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a STEM discipline.

  • Four to six years' experience successfully designing and testing DR plans for mission critical applications. This includes development of DR Roadmap, Operational procedures, Test Plans and coordinating the execution of DR drills and documenting the results.

  • Minimum four years of experience in the following:
    • Leadership and relationship management with internal stakeholders particularly, various IT support teams, business partners and third-party service providers.

    • Leading or working in high-performance, multidisciplinary workgroups or teams to meet recoverability goals such as recovery time and point objectives.

    • Creating and defining new operational models and procedures, and explaining complex problems or situations.

    • Proven ability to work under stressful conditions, such as IT and/or business-related crises.

    • Working with cross functional teams to develop, and maintain disaster recovery run books and application inventory.

    • Working with IT management preparing DR roadmap planning and execution

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of current IT DR planning techniques and technologies. This includes methods used in performing risk analyses and cross functional business impact analysis and incorporate the findings in Business Continuity Management plan working with the stakeholders.

  • High level understanding of databases and infrastructure services like server virtualization, storage, network, various backup and recovery methods that will assist in the preparation of related recovery procedures.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the planning and execution of disaster recovery drills.

  • Professional Certification related to IT Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity is a plus

Required Skills:

  • Ability to understand the business need, various infrastructure deployments, and to develop DR plans and run books that meet the business recovery needs of the enterprise that corresponds to existing infrastructure capabilities.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and tasks simultaneously, whether working independently or as part of the team.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in the understanding of cyber disaster, its ramifications, latest trends, prevention methods and ways to recover from it.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the status effectively to stakeholders at all levels orally and through written form of communication.

  • Experience in documenting processes, specifications and work instructions.

  • Demonstrate ability to work with and coordinate tasks among multiple teams.

  • Experience in incident and change management processes

  • Strong experience using Microsoft Office products

  • Project leadership or management experience is desirable.

  • Proven ability to work under stressful conditions, such as business-related crises.

  • Working knowledge of databases, web applications, cloud application deployments to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures.

  • Understanding of data center operations, and core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, Network Operations, and Server virtualization technologies

  • Technical breadth and depth in IT systems overall and at least one specific IT technology in terms of storage, servers, networking, and database systems is desirable.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in coordinating, assessing and communicating recovery environment requirements associated with the current data center environment, and participate in new activities, with appropriate technology groups, resulting in recommendations to enable timely, effective decisions regarding data center recovery planning and execution.

  • Plan, build, run and manage the design and implementation of enterprise wide IT DRM program, including policies, maturity models, methodologies, plans, metrics and scorecards for all components of the program.

  • Manage the execution and completion of all DR test activities.

  • Gain exposure to various business applications that are hosted on premise and on Cloud.

  • Work with the various IT teams to ensure DR related documentation are kept up to date based on current changes to application and/or underlying technology.

  • Work with third party vendors to develop and document service-level agreements covering DR for cloud hosted applications; SaaS, PaaS and IaaS

  • Work with various IT stakeholders to make sure Application Inventory and Resource roster is up to date and maintained to reflect the latest configurations.

  • Coordinate, facilitate and provide detailed direction for all resilience and disaster recovery testing activities.

  • Collaborate with business unit staff, external business partners and key IT staff members for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling and maintaining an effective testing plan. This includes detailing lessons learned from tests and using them to form action plans for future improvements.

  • Participate in infrastructure recovery capacity planning with key IT technology groups in support of proactively ensuring an adequate recovery environment, as well as accurate and predictive budgeting.

  • Orchestrate the execution of the disaster recovery plan(s) when a business disruption occurs, in coordination with the management.

  • Due to the nature of disaster recovery, the person must be prepared to be on call at any time, and may also be periodically expected to work off-hours while conducting DR test execution.

  • Participate in the assessment of a potential disruption in service to help the IT DRM leader determine if and when to declare a disaster.

  • Maintain an effective working knowledge of IT DRM industry technologies, current trends and best practices.
