Responsibilities

Venice Family Clinic is a community health center whose
mission is To provide quality primary health care to people in need. Venice Family Clinic cares for over 28,000
low-income patients in over 120,000 visits annually who might otherwise go
without critically needed health care services. Venice Family Clinic has eleven
clinical sites with over 350 staff, 1,700 volunteers, and a budget of $50
million. We provide high quality,
comprehensive primary and specialty health care, dental, mental health,
substance use treatment and child development services to underserved
individuals and families on the Westside of Los Angeles. As part of our affiliation with the David
Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Venice Family Clinic is involved in the
training of residents and fellows in primary care and many specialties. Venice Family Clinic also trains residents
through partnerships with Kaiser Permanente and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The Program Manager-Food Programs has the primary
responsibility of overseeing all food programming at Venice Family Clinic. In this role, you will plan, develop and
oversee program activities and budgetary activities of the programs and will be responsible for coordinating the execution of special projects and research
initiatives as applicable to the programs. Food Programs will utilize nutrition education; physical activity
promotion; and advancement of policy, systems, and environmental changes
coordinated with stakeholder engagement and partnerships, as applicable, to
reach low-income individuals and families in multiple settings. The overall goal is to apply comprehensive
evidence-based obesity prevention strategies to achieve specific behavioral
outcomes including increased consumption of healthy foods, promote food
security, reduce consumption of less healthy foods and beverages, and increased
levels of physical activity.

In addition, you will gather information and
prepares reports to evaluate program effectiveness. You will collaborate with other directors in the program areas.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Public Health or related field
    OR a Bachelors
    degree in Health or a related field strongly preferred
  • 1-3 years of administrative experience in
    community and/or public health-based programs working with low income,
    uninsured or disparate populations
  • Working knowledge of nutrition and physical
    activity services is preferred
  • Experience in a community clinic setting is
    preferred.
  • Knowledge of research methods (IRB, CITI
    training, data collection, etc) is preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide
    variety of people of various educational and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft
    applications such as Word, Excel and Access and other database programs
  • Ability to travel between clinics and community
    organizations
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a changing
    environment
  • Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translate, read and
    write)
  • Current California drivers license, appropriate
    insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the Venice Family Clinic
    insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job)
