Provides counsel and advice to top management on significant Provider Contracting matters, often requiring coordination between organizations. Manages contracting with hospitals and other providers for an independent or affiliated plan. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: strategic positioning for contracting with new or complex providers and developing networks in outlying areas and with providers and, overseeing the functions for negotiating contracts with physicians, hospitals, and other providers to provide service. Tracks and monitors financial performance of contracts. Ensures compliance with contracting guidelines. Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Leads the planning and implementation of large programs in the function, and regularly interfaces with senior management. Focuses on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines. Recognized internally as "the go-to person" for the most complex Provider Contracting assignments.
