This position serves as an integral member and infrastructure of the Provider Solutions & Operations Team. This position is responsible for leadership and management of highly skilled accounts receivable experts who provide research and implement issue resolution for our commercial medical providers across multiple markets. They will act as a key partner to the market Provider Relations Directors supporting strategic planning to improve provider experience. This role provides direction and guidance regarding policies, procedures, workflows, claim service quality, and training needs to their aligned team. They will engage with various matrix partners to remove barriers and establish best practices for Provider Solutions and Operations teams.


  • Provide leadership supervision to a diverse team of 10-20 accounts receivable specialist and analysts aligned to multiple markets
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Contracting, Provider Relations Directors, Enterprise Operation Leadership and other matrix partners to ensure knowledge of market activities and initiatives
  • Understands and manages multiple unique market needs and complexities to drive an excellent provider experience
  • Performs individual coaching and mentoring in support of continuous quality improvement in problem resolution as well as customer requirements
  • Works in conjunction with Provider Talent Enablement team to identify training opportunities and supports coordination and delivery
  • Support the identification of global issues that affect providers and incorporate matrix partners into the resolution process as necessary
  • Drives a culture of excellent customer service
  • Meets all established operational metrics
  • Ensures understanding and adherence with CIGNA's policies and procedures, regulatory and contractual requirements as well as performance guarantees.
  • Responsible for handling escalated Provider Issues, resolving in a timely and effective manner, focusing on provider retention and solutions

  • Bachelors degree preferred or 5-7 years work experience
  • Experience managing complex operational work units
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Outstanding people assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and able to develop and maintain effective relationships with individuals at various levels
  • Strong communication skills; written, oral and listening skills
  • Proven track record in driving and leading change
  • Must be a team player with demonstrated ability to work well with others and work collaboratively to resolve issues
  • Working knowledge of CIGNA claim systems
  • Operational management experience preferred
  • High proficiency in claim expertise required
  • Superb relationship skills
  • Problem solving skills including the ability to systematically analyze complex issues

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 75,200 - 125,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
