The Job Opportunity and Duties




  • Act as a member of an interdisciplinary team, responsible for assigned mental health interventions for a case load of mentally ill criminal offender patients.

  • Conducts specific individual and group clinical interventions as prescribed on the individual mental health treatment plan, using clinical intervention strategies within their scope of practice.

  • Completes detailed screens, mental health evaluations and crisis services within their scope of practice.

  • Provides clinical direction to lower level psychology assistants

  • Serve as treatment team coordinator.

  • Supervises psychology assistants and other assigned staff.

  • Responsible for the assigned work of psychology assistants and interns in accordance with the State Board of Psychology rules within the level of training and competency of psychology assistants and interns.

  • Conducts and documents required supervision of psychology assistants and interns.

  • In accordance with training and scope of practice, administers and interprets psychometric tests as requested as part of treatment needs for specific diagnoses, treatment and psychological individual and group interventions.

  • Administers, scores and interprets individual psychological test or test batteries for purpose of crisis intervention, neuropsychological issues, risk management, severe behavior management cases, and programming.

  • Conducts assessments for suicide potential.

  • Participate in hearings.

  • Completes psychosocial needs and treatment assessments a part of interdisciplinary treatment planning.

  • Completes transfer and discharge summaries.

  • Consults with other institutional staff regarding the mental health caseload inmates intuitional adjustment and service needs.

  • Develops and implements treatment specific programs and services for the Mental Health caseload.

  • Writes reports and/or documents to include documentation of all offender contacts, mental health liaison progress note entries, discharge plans and miscellaneous forms and reports as needed.

  • Attends meetings of quality assurance, clinical supervision and case-consultation attends and/or instructs in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development.

  • Conducts expert-witness assessments as needed.

  • Conducts various ODRC institutions and program audit functions, may be assigned duties at other institutions.


License to practice psychology in Ohio pursuant to Section 4732.09 and 4732.21 of revised code; 12 mos. exp. as a licensed psychologist; 1 course in employee trg. & development or 3 mos. exp. providing work direction & training or supervision to psychology students, assistants, or psychologists.
