Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Compliance Specialist to join our Ashland Specialty ingredients business at our Hopewell, VA facility. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Quality function. This position will report to the Compliance Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform and assist with miscellaneous Quality Assurance activities including internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Investigates and responds to customer complaints
  • Quality Batch Record Review approver
  • Initiates out-of-spec investigations where appropriate
  • Provide support to production through performing or participating in root cause investigations, and by pulling and trending historical data
  • Participates or leads Quality Risk Assessments
  • Facilitates mock recall activities
  • Participating in process improvements and the implementation of new quality systems
  • Provide Sales, Customer Service, and Business Management support by answering and assisting with customer requests and inquiries.
  • Assist in cultivating a quality culture through participation in cross-functional teams.
  • Participates in Quality, Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Engineering or another technical field.
  • Knowledgeable in quality assurance systems, quality control procedures, chemical plant processes, and ISO 9001.
  • Mustbe proficient in MS Office Suite,with strong written and oral communication skills and ability read, interpret, and report data.

The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

  • Understanding of FDA regulations, FSSC 22000, EFfCI, and EXCiPACT standards
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Quality Risk Management, Change management, HACCP and excipient regulations
  • Experience in leading and organizing internal and external (customer and 3rd party) audits
  • Experience with SAP and LIMS, knowledge of Laboratory cGMP
  • Ability to promote a strong safety culture utilizing leader standard work, 5S, and/or lean manufacturing knowledge/skills
