OBJECTIVES:

  • This individual will play a key commercial role in enabling the US Oncology business.
  • Primary objectives are developing, enriching, and expanding enterprise-level B2B relationships with US Regional Payers (to include but not limited to: Commercial health plans, Large IDNs, Regional PBMs, FFS Medicaid, Managed Medicaid health plans, and Medicare Administrative Contractors) to ensure coverage and reimbursement of marketed products and to optimize new product introduction and uptake in the marketplace.
  • This individual will work closely with the National Account Director (NAD) team, the Field Access Director (FAD) team, Trade & Distribution, Payer Marketing, Corporate Account Director (CAD) team and Sales.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The mission of the Regional Account Director is to ensure end user access, reimbursement and proper utilization of marketed products by building relationships and formulating strategies at the aligned targeted regional payer accounts.
  • The Regional Account Director will develop and cultivate a wide range of clinical, medical, pharmacy, policy, and executive contacts and advocates within all influential functions of the customers business.
  • This individual will develop goals and account plans in alignment with US PVA strategies and execute comprehensive and complex initiatives in the market. This will include financial analyses, strategy recommendations, and business plan development.
  • This individual is responsible for providing Health plan and PBM formulary access which may include securing internal business case approvals, negotiating terms and conditions, and implementing contractual agreements.
  • The Regional Account Director will work with an integrated market access team to address substantial opportunities/issues that require a variety of expertise and where multiple interests are at stake and effectively contribute value-added strategic and tactical insights both on the pharmacy and medical benefit sides of the business.
  • The RAD will provide effective partnership and communication to Sales to assist with the access of our oncolytics in select accounts as it relates to specific payer policies or broader policies encompassing Parts A, B, C, and Part D.
  • The RAD can provide education on changes within the commercial payers, Medicare, VBC and clinical pathway landscape can impact the providers as the oncology landscape evolves.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within Pharmacy and Medical side of the business within the assigned Regional Health plans, PBMs/PBAs, FFS Medicaid States, MACs and key players within large regional IDNs and ACOs.
  • Provide effective managed markets leadership for the PVA and Sales teams to assist with the sales of marketed products. (This also includes partnering with Sales on HCP tools used to ensure access i.e. MMIT)
  • Educate sales and providers on the Evolving Oncology Practice Model (MACRA, Medicare/Medicaid Reform, Clinical Pathways, VBA/VBCs)
  • Meet or exceed managed care access objectives and functionally manage at an enterprise level the optimization of product formulary and reimbursement positioning

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree required (preferably in business discipline); advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the pharma, biotech or medical device industry with managed care account management experience, including 4+ years of direct experience in managing regional health plans, PBMs, State Medicaid and/or MACs with demonstration of outstanding results.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of payer sector, including experience with the regional health plans (Pharmacy and Medical decision makers), Regional PBMs, State Medicaid and MACs within the posted geography. It is strongly preferred that candidate has established key payer contacts.
  • Experience demonstrating internal/external teamwork and exceptional leadership and management skills including demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent analytical skills and effectively utilize available market data to understand all aspects of the payer marketplace
  • Proven business judgment and strategic business management skills with demonstrated ability to make short- and long-term business decisions while recognizing important trends and making appropriate recommendations that enhance the corporations position
  • Candidate will exhibit superior written, oral, and group communication skills that allow effective contribution on several cross-functional teams and direct a market/customer driven development plan
  • Candidate must have the ability to understand oncology reimbursement landscape and clinical data to support opportunities within the payer accounts. This also includes update
  • Proven success in developing and gaining executive level approval of contract business cases including the rigorous financial analytics needed to support those business cases
  • Experience presenting, negotiating, writing and analysing rebate contracts while including/supporting legal during the redlining process, execution, and ongoing performance reviews.
  • Demonstrated success in optimization of payer access through pull-through and ongoing analytics with field sales counterparts.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of how to navigate State Medicaid meetings, call points, public comment and lobbying laws.
  • Working knowledge of the 7 MACs How to engage, LCD and article changes, key contacts and public comment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of value-based arrangements
  • Experience in the highly complex oncology sales, distribution, and reimbursement channels.
  • Exceptional financial and business acumen including keen analytical sense and ability to understand financial concepts; ensures that financial perspectives are incorporated in business decisions
  • High energy level, integrity and exceptional work ethic

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • The ability to travel nationally up to 50% of the work time
