The Operating Room Surgical Technologist:

• Performs the function of a scrub technologist assisting the surgeon during operative procedures, assessing and anticipating needs through knowledge and experience


• Works under the direct supervision of RN circulating nurse and surgeon


• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the operating room over the life span


• Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs as it relates to the scrub technologist's role


• Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures

Requirements

• Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, or has completed a training program for surgical technology during a persons service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States or has practiced as a surgical technologist at any time in the six months prior to July 1, 2021, provided they requester with the Board by December 31^st, 2021



• Experience strongly preferred, not required


• Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required or Current Registration with the Board as a Registered Surgical Technologist
