About the Team

The Regulatory Change Management team is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and overseeing the timely implementation of new or changes to existing critical laws, rules, regulations or material regulatory guidance (regulatory changes) that impact Mizuho US Operations; and ensuring that appropriate change management initiatives are initiated.


The Regulatory Change Management team is seeking an Assistant Vice President to support the regulatory change management framework for Mizuho US Operations. The AVP will be responsible for identifying regulatory changes that affect Mizuho US Operations; and collaborate with relevant, firm-wide stakeholders to ensure appropriate change initiatives are undertaken in a timely manner. In addition, the AVP will be instrumental in helping the function grow, and will be offered in due course opportunities to contribute to multiple initiatives in doing so. This newly created position sits within the Regulatory Risk Group in Americas Risk Management.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Review regulatory changes issued by various regulatory authorities with a focus on state banking and securities regulators where Mizuho has a presence (New York, California, Illinois, among others), and other regulatory authorities in order to determine applicability and potential impact to the activities of Mizuho US Operations.

  • Summarize key elements of the data reviewed and clearly articulate the rationale for applicability and potential impact, suitable for review by relevant stakeholders, and withstand scrutiny.

  • Liaise with relevant, firm-wide stakeholders to confirm analysis and develop further understanding of the impact a given regulatory change may have on activities of impacted parties.

  • Serve as regulatory subject matter expert, and collaborate with stakeholders on projects and change initiatives undertaken.

  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the recently established centralized IT solution and repository for regulatory change management, its underlying taxonomy and methodology.

  • Support the production of data analytics, metrics intelligence and management information required for appropriate internal and external reporting.


  • Bachelors degree or equivalent required.

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in financial services. Experience in reviewing laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance from the Federal Reserve, FDIC, SEC, CFTC, FINRA, and NFA, among other federal and state-level agencies.

  • General knowledge of banking and financial products, including loans, underwriting business, products in the securities markets, futures and derivatives, etc. Genuine interest in deepening regulatory expertise.

  • Understanding of the regulatory framework for bank holding companies and foreign banking organizations in the US is desirable.

  • Strong writing and analytical skills; ability to understand complex material and explain it in simple terms verbally and in writing.

  • Awareness of business areas in a financial organization and their functions, including Risk Management, Treasury, Compliance, Legal and Operations; familiarity with governance frameworks.

  • Self-motivated, with the proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines is essential.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills, especially Excel and Powerpoint.
