Position Summary:

The Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research has received funding to expand All for Them to middle schools in Aldine ISD (Houston, TX). Project activities include adaptation and delivery of a social marketing campaign aimed at English and Spanish speaking parents, delivery of school-based vaccination clinics at participating AISD middle schools, and school nurse education to improve communication with parents about HPV vaccination.

Under general direction of senior research staff, the Research Assistant II will conduct activities to support the research project. This position is located in Houston, TX.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Assist project coordinator with day-to-day activities, as needed.
• Prepare vaccine consent packet materials for comprehensive adolescent vaccination clinics held in participating AISD public middle schools.
• Participate in implementation of all mobile vaccination clinic activities, including clinic activities. Weekly travel within greater Houston area is required (must have reliable transportation).
• Assist with vaccination data collection and entry for implementation and evaluation activities.
• Assist with implementation of parent education events. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for parent education/community events.
• Maintain project and office supplies and keep up with re-stocking needs.
• Participates in weekly team meetings.
• Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

• General knowledge and some detailed concepts of research field assigned.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills strongly preferred. Knowledge of concepts of public health research preferred. Working knowledge of MS Office. Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects must be completed within 5 days of employment.

Minimum Education:

• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

• One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
• May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
