The Research Assistant performs recruitment of participants for research studies in Orthopedic Surgery research. The main tasks include:
Participant recruitment Creating and posting study recruitment materials Consenting and enrolling participants Conducting patient assessments Entering research data Performing basic database maintenance Assisting in patient interview scheduling Preparing and presenting clinical reports. The Research Assistant performs animal research studies in Orthopedic Surgery research. The main tasks include:
Animal surgeries Monitoring of all enrolled animals in the study Weights, temperatures, and pain assessment scoring Preparation of test articles Microbiology assays (Biofilms assays, CFUs etc.) Biomarker testing Recording all relevant data in accordance with study guidelines Data presentation Assisting in writing and submission of manuscripts. After training, the research assistant is expected to perform these tasks with minimal supervision. Candidates require meticulous record keeping and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates must be a team player. This position requires a bachelor's degree in biological science, neuropsychology, or related field. Exceptional candidates will have research experience with IRB studies, medical databases such as RedCap or working knowledge of clinical research methodology.
Bachelor's degree and prior experience with concussion research or other large research/outreach studies. Careful attention to detail, excellent organizational and computer skills required. Incumbent must be a team player. Previous experience with database and statistical software preferred.
