Position Summary:

As a Research Associate in the Core Consumable Development department you will play a key role supporting the multidisciplinary effort to develop and optimize novel sequencing reagents. Your work will enable project teams to make critical decisions on reagent development.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute various laboratory activities with minimum supervision
  • Participate in product development activities, including various aspects of planning, operation, and transfer
  • Manage goals within defined timeline
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation of large data sets
  • Write reports and present results in project meetings
  • Troubleshoot of instrumentation issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or closely related field
  • 1+ years experience in development of molecular biology and/or biochemical applications
  • Ability to think and work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must think analytically with can-do attitude
  • Must have a desire to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic development environment
  • Must be fluent in Word, Powerpoint, and Excel

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • A working knowledge of, or background in, Next Generation Sequencing would be advantageous, but its not essential
  • Experienced with nucleic acids and DNA/RNA processing enzymes
  • Broad experience with enzyme characterization methods (HPLC, DLS, DSF, Bioanalyzer, Thermal Melt and Chemical Melt)
  • Strong understanding of statistical significance, replicates, controls
  • Strong troubleshooting and optimization experience
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • The capability to be flexible in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Product development experience, including assay optimization, reagent development, integration and testing, transfer to production and documentation

Education:
BSc/MS in biochemistry, biophysics, or other related discipline
