Position Summary:

Illumina is seeking a talented individual to join the Assay On-Market Support and Development team. This team supports investigations and improvements for a broad portfolio of on-market library prep products including Oncology, NIPT (prenatal), whole genome sequencing, and infectious disease products. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of Illumina library prep products, as well as sequencing and analysis platforms with a focus on Oncology. As a Research Associate you will work with the larger OMSD team as you grow your skills in and out of the laboratory. The foundation for this role is a solid grasp of molecular biology. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • As part of the Assay On Market Support and Development team, contribute to ongoing investigations, including complaint investigations and CAPAs, and design changes for product improvements.
  • Contribute to development efforts to address technical questions that move a project or investigation forward.
  • Perform experiments, keep detailed lab notebook, perform data analysis, draw conclusions and define next steps, write reports and present results and updates to manager and teams as needed
  • Collaborate with quality engineers, product marketing, assay development scientists, manufacturing, hardware engineers, and software engineers as needed in supporting scientific studies aimed at sustaining on-market products
  • Communicate results and conclusions to aid in team decision making in a fast-paced environment
  • Manage goals and duties within defined target timeframes

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, genomics, bioengineering or related field.
  • Solid understanding of standard molecular biology protocols including DNA and RNA and demonstrated laboratory experience.
  • Ability to think and work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Analytical, detail oriented, organized, efficient, problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have a desire to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic development environment
  • Must be fluent in use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with next generation sequencing technologies (NGS).
  • Experience with Illuminas library prep methods strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis software tools such as JMP or R.
  • Knowledge of NGS secondary analysis techniques desirable
  • Experience with product development.
  • Prior experience with troubleshooting experiments and investigations.
