RESEARCH OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE - COMPARATIVE MEDICINE

POSITION OBJECTIVE::

  • Work with department leadership and research partners on procurement of vivarium supplies and equipment including animals, capital, and consumables.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships including supply agreements and licenses
  • Administration of department software systems
  • Maintain department intranet site; contribute to future strategy and identification of additional digital tools and content to enhance communication.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain and further develop department intranet site and content including databases, and software applications such as Smartsheet, and vivarium management software; conduct user training and troubleshooting
  • Partner with department leadership and research teams to create and maintain animal procurement purchase orders, licenses and service agreements.
  • Coordinate the procurement, import and export of research animals
  • Contribute to the 3Rs of animal welfare assurance (replace, reduce, refine) by conducting animal supplier audits or qualification visits as assigned
  • Partner with department and research teams to enable enterprise purchasing and interface with global systems teams for issue resolution
  • Assist leadership with project management associated with Vivarium Space Planning and Capital Projects including Capital equipment procurement
  • Apply Operational Excellence principles to enhance quality in all projects and deliverables
  • Embrace environmental sustainability towards a "green vivarium" through implementation of the environmental 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle)

EDUCATION, BEHAVORIAL COMPETENCIES and SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; and 3+ years' vivarium experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Smartsheet a plus
  • Knowledge and prior experience with procurement software such as SAP Ariba desired
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and build strong cross-functional relationships

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:

  • LAT Certification or equivalent required
  • LATg, preferred
  • PMP Certification preferred

This position is currently classified as "hybrid" in accordance with Takeda's Hybrid and Remote Work policy.
