Applications are invited for the position of Research Project Manager in the laboratory of Dr. Hatice Osmanbeyoglu at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh. The suitable candidate will participate in multiple projects and work closely with the PI, other lab members and collaborators. We are looking for an individual with experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques, such as DNA and RNA extraction, Western blot, qPCR and cloning. Experience with CRISPR will be a plus.

The projects will involve working with cell culture, organoids, CRISPR and library preparation for assays such as ATAC-seq,RNA-seq, sc-RNAseq and CITE-seq. The candidate will also perform day-to-day activities such as laboratory organization and maintenance, procuring and sourcing various lab supplies, cell culture, animal/human tissue processing (blood and tumor), maintaining inventory of reagents and tissues (e.g. cDNAs, cells, constructs, tissue slides), ordering and purchasing, updating protocols and methods. The incumbent must confer with researchers, faculty and representatives of potential granting agencies concerning research needs and methods, and actively participate with collaborators both inside and outside the institute and work dynamically with the principal investigator/medical director to prioritize the aims and activities of the research projects. As the project develops, the incumbent will also be responsible for interviewing and selection, orientation and training, work assignment, supervision and review of new and senior researcher employees in the group.

The incumbent will also be expected to comply with specific institutional and government requirements and regulations. Candidates must have a advanced professional level research experience in the relevant field is required. Strong background and extensive experience with tissue processing, molecular biological and cell-based assays, analyses and interpretation of large datasets, and data presentation is required. A good publication track record and prior experience with developing research projects independently is a plus. The incumbent must be scientifically passionate and possess excellent organizational skills.

Masters Degree with strong background in diverse biological sub-disciplines and experience in advanced research on molecular biology, animal disease models and research manuscript preparation is a plus. At least 5 years of laboratory research and lab management experience. Experience working with tissue collection, is a must. Will substitute significant applicable experience (7 years) in lieu of advanced degree.
