The main task will be to assist scientists conducting their experiments in cellular and molecular immunology. This includes assisting scientists in the preparation of samples for flow cytometry, processing samples for ELISA and ELISpot assays, and preparing tissue sections for immunofluorescence microscopy.
Procedures also include maintaining cells and cell lines in tissue culture; handling of nucleic acids and proteins; maintaining computer files; and collecting and accurately recording data.
A significant part of the job will be the maintenance of the mouse colony, which includes breeding, weaning and PCR screening of genetically altered mouse lines. The person hired will be expected to be able to work independently after suitable training, and as part of a team.
Associates degree in biological sciences or related field is required. Computer literate. Knowledge of biological, mathematical and chemical principles. Research Experience may be substituted for Degree Requirement and Vice-Versa.
