Dr. Hassane Zarour's laboratory at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Melanoma Program of the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is seeking a qualified Research Technician. This is a full-time position in translational cancer research. This position is in a laboratory to collect and process blood and tissue samples from cancer patients, to perform experiments in cellular and molecular biology as well as animal experiments. The candidate will support active research projects in the laboratory, design experiments and new research protocols, and work independently for the performance of the experiments. The candidate is expected to work independently to analyze data, prepare reports and discuss data with PI and other lab members at weekly lab meetings. The candidate will maintain a database to track samples in relation to de-identified patients. The candidate will work in biomedical research, including basic techniques in cellular (cell cultures, flow cytometry) and molecular biology as well as animal experiments. A BS degree in biochemistry, molecular biology or biology is preferred. Experience in laboratory research is desired.
