The Department of Residence Life at the University of Pittsburgh welcomes applications for the Resident Director position for the 2021-2022 academic year. Residence Life is committed to providing the best collegiate experience in the world for our students and is seeking individuals to join our team to assist us in accomplishing our vision. Applicants should be dedicated to working in an environment that is highly focused on student development, care, and follow-up. Further, applicants should have a commitment to their own personal and professional development and have a desire to be a collaborative member of a team. The full-time Resident Director will live on campus and is responsible for developing a dynamic learning environment in residence halls of 400-800 students in an urban setting. Specific duties include:

a commitment to student interaction and mentoring; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; leadership and supervision of a student staff of 8-18; develop community engagement plans with student staff and promote University efforts to connect students to campus; promote holistic learning and student wellness; crisis management and follow-up; leadership and collaboration with Living Learning Communities and university partners; manage conflict intervention and follow-up; manage student conduct to provide student accountability and growth; participate in an on-call duty rotation; coordinate maintenance and facilities issues with housing staff; act as an onsite liaison for university partners in emergency situations; advise a residential hall council; effectively communicate in both in one on one and group settings; membership on a departmental and/or university strategic team/committee; develop and participate in departmental level leadership opportunities

Resident Director positions are full-time, 12 month, live-in positions.

Starting salary for the Resident Director is $44,000 annually, as well as competitive benefits offered by the University of Pittsburgh. A university furnished apartment on-campus in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh and a university meal plan is also provided.
A Master's degree in Higher Education or Student Personnel or comparable area of study and familiarity with residence hall environments and issues is preferred. Experience with a residential curriculum is beneficial. Successful candidates must be acutely aware of student and staff development issues to be effective in this role.
