Safety & Training Coordinator

The Safety & Training Coordinator, under the direction of the Vermont Creamery Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager, is responsible for all aspects of Vermont Creamery's training program and acts as a support role for the Safety department. This role works to improve overall safety culture and provide an additional safety resource for employees. The Coordinator provides direction and administration for the overall training program, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, orientation, and on-the-job training, in line with Land O'Lakes corporate standards. This position will support and drive continuous improvement of key performance metrics through project management and facility initiatives. The Safety & Training Coordinator works collaboratively with the Vermont Creamery Safety, Operations, Quality, and Human Resources teams to deliver value for all employees across the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety :

  • Assists with reporting on regulatory compliance for all Federal & State OSHA, DOT, state, and local health/safety regulations.
  • Complet es all required regulatory and company reporting document ation .
  • Assists with hazard analysis within the plant.
  • Supports the execution of action plans for the improvement of safety and environmental performance.
  • Supports t he effective development and utilization of plant environmental safety teams and resources.
  • Maintains communication with supervisor/management personnel regarding hazardous conditions and unsafe practices.

Training :

  • Builds, updates, and maintain s Vermont Creamery's training program, including Safety, Quality, Orientation, and Operations requirements.
  • Supports and manages training schedules for all departments .
  • T rack s and create s reports on outcomes of all training while maintain training records for the company .
  • Trains new hires on safety and quality requirements, incorporating in the classroom, hands-on, and virtual methods.
  • Gather s and evaluate s information from employees and management on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training.
  • Recommend s training materials and methods, order s and maintain s in-house training equipment and facilities and manage s the budget set for training.
  • Manages employee engagement and participation in training sessions, fostering a culture of engagement and development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Competencies, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • Strong background in Safety and training requirements.
  • Proven problem solving/judgment and group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including the ability to translate internal company requirements to broad internal and external audiences.
  • Excellent communicator to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and leadership levels.
  • F ast-learner, agile, and comfortable with continuous change.
  • Proficiency in computer and software use.
  • Capable of leading change in a diverse business environment.
  • Highly driven and self-directed.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Associate's Degree or equivalent education plus experience.
  • Preferred 1-3 years' experience in a safety , manufacturing , or training environment. Preferably at a large facility with 100 employees or greater .
