- JOB SUMMARY
- Reports to the Manager, School Nurse Program. Provides school health services by assessing the health needs of students, providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students, providing health information, emergency care and safety, communicable disease control and servicing as a resource to parents, teachers, staff and administrators.

- JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities are normally acquired through the successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing. A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Indiana is required. Previous experience in school nursing, public health, community nursing or pediatrics is desired. Must have and maintain current CPR certification. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

- Demonstrates a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment and techniques.
- Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to solve problems and interpret data.
- Requires the ability to work well with others; organizational ability to establish and maintain necessary systems and records; ability to work independently.
- Demonstrates the interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with a wide variety of contacts including principals, students, families, and community members; also to report and record patient related information accurately and appropriately.
- Demonstrates strong documentation and organization skills to multi-task and maintain electronic health records of students.
- Demonstrates evidence of physical health and physical exam upon hire and as needed.
- Demonstrates proficiency in basic computer skills (i.e., data entry, word processing and spreadsheets).
- Must have working phone and/or pager to maintain contact with agency.
- Requires a valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage.
- Working Conditions
- Works in an office or school environment.
- Requires ability to work flexible hours and may be required to travel within the school district.
- Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
