The Senior Director Global Engineering Technology will lead the improvement (the now) and the development (the next) of our manufacturing capabilities.


Key focus will include global standards and engineering best practices, end- to-end process improvement with emphasis on industry 4.0 technologies, support in major projects and/or crisis, innovative Making platforms and cross-over technologies, exploration and prototyping decentralized Making systems, exploration and identification of solutions aligned with our carbon footprint reduction goals, revitalize & grow partnerships in the start-up/progressive food technology ecosystem, including/involving JVs Making processes.

The role has a global scope across all components of Griffith Foods including co-manufacturing and JVs where appropriate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Researches, Identifies, qualifies and provides key input to and support for the deployment of the plant of the future through technology and the lenses of capital deployment optimization, longer term standardization, maintenance, and a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) operating environment, focusing on our plant-of-the-future, including innovative Making platform models closer to fields.
  • Works with the Global Innovation Council and the commercial team on process innovation as new platforms are being developed.
  • Finds technical solutions and innovation by creating and leveraging a network of external experts to ensure our practices are state-of-the-art, current, and push us forward in our thinking and practices, with particular focus on pushing toward our carbon footprint reduction goals.
  • Serves as technical and leadership consultant to all global business units on Making processes, technology and equipment design, and all manufacturing & engineering related matters, enabling and accelerating a Product Leadership posture of Griffith Foods.
  • Leads / facilitates master planning of the factories of the future.
  • Acts as a coach and mentor to all local Supply Chain Leaders.
  • Connects internal partners across the business, platforms, and the enterprise to ensure the capture of their knowledge and expertise and share best practices and processes.
  • Drives process improvements across the end-to-end supply chain working collaboratively with the regional business units & Global Functions with a focus on minimizing Griffiths Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Works to ensure assessments of region / plant capabilities are in place, worked against, and progress is made ahead of business need. Aligned and calibrated with the local teams.
  • Questions processes, procedures, and policies for improvement. Fully investigates, develops, and presents alternatives for implementation.
  • Detects and suggest problem resolution as quickly and accurately as possible, as well as manages and drives high performance, objectives achievement and service quality through well-defined key performance indicators.
  • Leads Knowledge Management capability activities and insights for the engineering community, driving collaboration and best practice sharing across the global markets.
  • Coordinates with local business leaders to foresee/understand critical project activities and to enable them to manage team resources and tasks to avoid critical path slippage.
  • Works with Product Category Teams and Product Applications Teams as new platforms are being developed and lead the commercialization process where applicable.
  • Explores, evaluates, tests/prototypes, and recommends application of new ingredient/ packaging/processing technologies.
  • Drives collaboration and best practice sharing across the global markets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering is required; PE and/or Masters degree is preferred. MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of related and progressive engineering experience including process engineering, capital and project management, best practices, standardization, and product commercialization.
  • In depth knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes required.
  • Experience working in a TPM environment and working with continuous improvement models is desired.
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property and patent strategies in a global business environment.
  • International/global food industry experience and demonstrated knowledge of requirements preferred.
  • Very proactive with great listening skills and a strong communicator, across many groups and constituencies.
  • Ability to excel in a multifunctional team and matrix environment.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships are key as the work is across all businesses and functions and imperative to gaining alignment.
  • Strong financial and business acumen.
  • International travel up to 30% of time.
