Our Calhoun location in Tennessee, United States is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Senior HR Generalist. This job is permanent, full-time.


Job Summary:



The HR Generalist will support the human resources team to build organizational capacity for the department and the overall site. The ideal candidate will tackle both large and small jobs in a manufacturing, results-oriented environment. The successful candidate will possess integrity and humility, and uphold all the ethical responsibilities inherent in the human resources profession. The Senior HR Generalist will cross-train with the Employee Learning & Development and HR Business Partner to understand the day-to-day operations of the entire team. Recruitment and staffing activities will be a major part of this role. Serves as trusted advisor to the Regional HR Manager.





Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department, as well as other organizational members.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Provide support, as needed, across the employee lifecycle, in areas like recruiting and onboarding, diversity and inclusion, learning and development, benefits and wellness, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives

  • Serve as a thought partner and collaborator on creative solutions to expand the HR Groups capacity

  • Resolve inquiries from employees and managers, collaborating on complex and/or sensitive matters, as appropriate, including but not limited to collective bargaining agreements, internal investigations, grievance and arbitration preparation, statistical analyses, and ad-hoc requests from the HR manager

  • Supports and advances evolving company initiatives, particularly in the areas of training and development, DE&I, and community service and outreach

  • Develops an environment of trust and confidentiality by building strong relationships with employees and managers

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law, making recommendations, as needed, and helping to lead related initiatives

  • Contributes to HR communications efforts on electronic and print materials, as required

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Assists the team to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Able to conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Understand HR policy and procedures and assist in guidance and interpretation thereof.

  • Assists with business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Ability to identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs.

  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:



Education and Experience:



  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues, including labor relations.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.

  • Experience in (or strong working knowledge of) program development and/or instructional design; e.g., Leadership Development, Apprenticeships, Human Performance Improvement, Technical Training

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Human Resources certification from one of the following organizations: SHRM, HRCI, or HCI

Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
