Purpose:



~ Primary liaison between Finance and Genesis Motor America (GMA) leadership



~ Leads Genesis financial planning and analysis



~ Provides Genesis management with data & analysis to ensure well-informed decision-making



~ Prepares and interprets Gensis financial reports and financial plans



~ Interprets and communicates competitive actions and impact in the luxury segment



~ Financial advisor to GMA to help them understand areas needing improvement





Major Responsibilities:



~ Manage the fleet and company car vehicle inventory and warranty accounting functions, including planning, organizing, training and evaluating the work of all personnel reporting to the position.



~ Oversee accounting operations and support functions associated with vehicle generated accounts receivable, dealer draft management, cash and rejected draft processing, wholesale return reimbursements, dealer liability support payments, and other related duties.



~ Oversee the accounts receivable accounting functions, including planning, organizing, training and evaluating the work of personnel reporting to the position.



~ Oversee accounts receivable efforts in collection of non-dealer, dealer and special lease/affiliate accounts.



~ Oversee vehicle related A/R functions including draft management.



~ Oversee monthly reimbursements to all active dealers with a credit balance on their statements.



~ Oversee accounting functions related to company car inventory, company car depreciation & physical inventory and make recommendations as appropriate.



~ Oversee fleet inventory accounting and related analysis of vehicle auction residual values, depreciation, LCM and average days valuation requirements; analyze results and adjust system parameters to achieve desired results.



~ Design system enhancements to accommodate long-term corporate objectives, improve processing, accuracy and information relevancy. Coordinate testing and implementation of system enhancements.



~ Establish procedures for processing warranty claims; monitor such claims as received and coordinate dealer reimbursement from HMA and HMA reimbursement from HMC.



~ Manage warranty, goodwill & parts profit disallowance reserves and analyze such factors as warranty expenses, claims filed to HMC and Domestic vendors and vehicle warranty unit cost. Prepare quarterly reserve analysis with explanation of variances, changes in HMA absorption, and any related G/L adjusting entries.



~ Manage, analyze and report on impact of warranty system policy changes.



~ Verify accuracy of cost detail provided by the warranty system, coordinate development of annual warranty and warranty tow CPU calculations; provide required data to 3rd party actuaries, liaison with warranty department to research, explain and measure impact of transactions on the vehicle warranty reserve.



~ Prepare, review and post monthly journal entries and participate in month-end closing activities including SAP system transaction processing, account reconciliations and preparation of internal and external financial schedules.



~ Ensure monthly account reconciliations are complete in a timely manner; identify issues and ensure discrepancies are resolved timely.



~ Analyze vehicle sales, cost and gross margin variances as assigned. Adapt and improve upon existing vehicle sales, cost and margin analysis reports to meet changing business needs as required.



~ Participate in the timely preparation and accuracy of vehicle sales, cost and margin related reports including KFIN, Allocated P&L by Channel/Series, M2M Margin reviews, and other similar reports as required.



~ Support KPMG quarterly/year-end audits by providing PBC schedules, flux analysis and audit information requests in accordance with reporting timetables.



~ Establish and maintain consistency among PBC reporting schedules over varying audit periods; identify and streamline data schedules eliminating unnecessary data elements.



~ Assist in monthly, quarterly and yearly audits and reconciliation of affiliate transactions.



~ Assist in the operation of the Finance Department records retention and disposition program.



~ Perform other related duties as opportunities arise.





Authority:



~ Approve Genesis POs/PRs in BPEL



~ Approve and post monthly journal entries to record and adjust for accounting transactions.





Education:



~ Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance preferred



~ Masters degree a plus





Related Experience:



~ Seven to ten years of experience of which at least five years of directly related experience in finance



~ Two to three years of supervisory experience desired.





Skill/Knowledge:



~ Thorough knowledge of general and cost accounting methods and principles, including data processing applications (particularly perpetual inventory systems and Microsoft Excel)



~ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to formally present financial information



relative to vehicle inventory and cost of sales



~ Possess considerable working knowledge of Excel spreadsheet program and utilize software to automate reporting requirements



~ AS400 and SAP system expertise in areas to include sales & distribution, vehicle costing, warranty, receivables, and sales incentives



~ Knowledge of accounting and standard cost accounting principles and methods



~ Knowledge of SQL, QMF query language, database methods



~ Working knowledge of inventory control



~ Strong analytical skills and ability to think critically
