Job Description 

Job Title: Operation Manager- (Plant Manager)

SUMMARY: Follow all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures while providing leadership and support to the operations that are located at the Ferro Orrville site. Provide leadership of, but not limited to: Production; Maintenance; Supply Chain; Quality; Human Resources; as well as, Environmental, Health and Safety. The Manager II, Operations maintains production efficiency, labor cost, product rework, waste amounts and control of raw materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure/ assist in compliance to environmental, training, safety, transportation and all other regulations that the company must abide by while performing the following duties:

Plan, direct, and coordinating the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives. Implement and drive continuous improvement activities. Monitor and adjust spending according to established budgets and needs. Optimize resource utilization to create an effective production organization. Performing analysis of manufacturing materials and determining optimum control levels. Administer a personnel policy consistent with corporate policies and the Union Labor Agreement. Coach and develop resources to meet business objectives. Perform all EHS&S duties on-site. Manage CAPEX projects and planning. Review the performance of subordinates. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Salaried Reports: 1 direct report. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: hiring, performance evaluation, work assignments, etc.
• Union - Hourly Reports: Approximately 8 direct reports. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: departmental assignments, staffing, safety and disciplinary actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Extensive knowledge of plant level safety requirements and standards.
• Experience in various forms of production and manufacturing processes and techniques including:
  • Batch mixing of raw materials.
  • Continuous/Batch processing of solid chemicals and/or glass.
  • Batch and Continuous Milling of enamels and/or glass.
• Experience in human resource principles and practice.
• Working knowledge of quality programs such as ISO9000.
• Intermediate computer hardware and software skills including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and SAP.
• Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors Degree in Chemistry/Engineering/Technology or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 8 10 years experience supervising and/or managing in a high volume production environment.

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: This position shall maintain compliance with Federal, State & Local OSHA (Occupational Health & Safety Administration) Regulations, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), OEPA (Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, DOT (Department of Transportation regulations) at all times. The employee in this position shall maintain compliance with all Ferro Safety Standards as well as EHS rules/requirements of the site at all times.
