Our growing legal team is seeking a collaborative, commercial-minded Contract Analyst with expertise in the federal government/NGO space to join the global leader in genomic sequencing. The ideal candidate will have experience in redlining and negotiating legal documents, ability to effectively manage their workload and adapt in a fast-paced, growth-oriented company.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs detailed reviews of draft contracts and terms and conditions against legal checklist of acceptable elements to identify and mitigate legal risks. Flags incomplete and non-compliant terms and notifies responsible parties of open action items; compares new agreements to existing agreements for consistency and accuracy.
  • Negotiates commercial contract terms and conditions with external organizations. (Dealing with both ILMN terms and conditions and external organization's terms and conditions under minimal instruction.)
  • Assumes leadership role with respect to other departments and external customer contacts on bid proposals regarding legal issues on contracts, subcontracts and other document reviews. Assigns appropriate responsibilities for completion and reconciles subsequent performance.
  • Reviews and processes other legal documents, including but not limited to equipment leases, rental agreements submitted to customers
  • Develop and maintain a program with respect to commercial contracts and regularly notifying appropriate individuals when compliance is not met. Establish regular reviews and audits of reports & coordinate with internal resources as required.
  • Obtaining additional documentation from marketing, finance, legal, customer solutions, and sales individuals if needed to support proposal. Ensures such additional documentation is properly stored and available to other Contract Analysts as references.
  • Coordinates and provides lead support with Sales Representatives to provide sales documentation, address inquiries with respect to Contracts workflow inquiries and satisfy customer requirements.
  • Maintaining and updating company customer database with contracts and promotion updates.
  • Publishing and distributing relevant reports to Finance, Marketing and Sales.
  • Supervision and support of customer records management within AMR Contracts network drives maintaining consistency throughout.
  • Monitoring pricing issues and notifying the sales representative when pricing is incorrect.
  • Maintaining and providing updates to current contracts, pricing approval processes, terms and conditions, and all related forms and distributing as needed.
  • Ability to effectively and authoritatively support any and all worldwide sales regions as requested.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience drafting, negotiating and finalizing a variety of commercial or legal documents at the highest level.
  • 3+ years experience analyzing federal government and NGO contracts (including FARs/DFARS and other federal compliance requirements) and government RFP (Request for Proposal)/RFQ (Request for Quotation)/IFB (Invitation to Bid) processes.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple contract negotiations simultaneously.
  • Mastery of the contract process including contract evaluation, negotiation, approval, tracking and close-out.
  • Ability to mentor others and serve as a Contracts authority to outside departments.
  • Must be able to work independently and exercise judgment.
  • Must have attention to detail, and proficient in MS Office.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills

The candidate's preferred location will be within a commutable distance to our San Diego, CA location. Illumina offers hybrid and remote work arrangements.
