We are looking for a full-time Software Engineer 1 - Back-End Developer to join our Marine Cloud team, located at our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will design, implement, and test new functionality within our complex software ecosystem using the latest tools and technologies. You will solve complex problems by composing small, independent components into large-scale systems. You will interact with business stakeholders and other engineers to ensure we are solving the right problems, the right way.

Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for new features and improvements to exisiting systems from requirement gathering through delivery


• Invest in development support activities including collaborative design sessions, project planning, end-user support, and feature demos


• Help ensure software quality by offering comments and suggestions to team members through peer code review


• Break down broad business and technical requirements into simple components using sound engineering principals


• Perform root cause analysis, outline correction action, and identify mitigation strategies for production issues


• Offer suggestions to improve processes and evaluate alternative technologies to help meet Garmin's high standards of value and performance

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering Aerospace Engineering, Math or Physics or a technical field (such as CIS or IT) relevant to the essential functions of this job description from a four-year college or university OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA. Other requirements include:

• C# version 4 or newer


• Experience with creating API's for other teams to consume


• Solid understanding of OOP principals


• Writing and consuming services using Web API


• Microsoft Visual Studio (preferred 2017 or newer)


• MS SQL Server (preferred 2016 or newer)


• Experience with the public cloud (preferred)

Developing testable software, and Working on a Continuous Integration/Deployment pipeline are highly preferred.
