Position Summary

The Performance Test Team is looking for exceptional engineering talent with a solid test background to help develop high-quality products with best in class performance.

You will be responsible for the creation and execution of performance test strategies and plans for major features and components of F5s cutting edge Application Delivery Controller, Security and Cloud product offerings. You will design and develop automated tests suites and contribute toward shared infrastructure that engineers across F5 will consume as we expand our test capabilities. You will produce guides that help field engineers correctly size customer deployments support sales teams as they help expand F5s customer base.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform system and performance testing of new products and new releases to ensure system reliability, capacity and scalability.
  • Collaborate with team members and technical leads to develop performance test plans.
  • Analyze test results and identify performance issues. Work with development teams to assist in bug resolution.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to the design of performance test and automation tools.
  • Conducts internal presentations for team members and management.
  • Participate in recruitment activities and assist with onboarding of new team members.
  • Assist senior engineers and managers in project planning, scheduling budgeting and tracking activities.
  • Research, investigate and define new test methodologies to improve test efficiency.
  • Responsible for upholding F5s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge and experience with software test methodologies.
  • Knowledge of IP networking: routing, switching, and network standards from layer 1 on up through the transport and applications layers.
  • Experience in developing performance tests for system benchmarking.
  • Solid analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Learns new areas quickly, unfazed by ambiguity and works independently.
  • Coding skills in Python, or similar language.
  • Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications.
  • Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment.
  • Demonstrates emerging leadership qualities; leads small group interaction.

Qualifications:

  • 7-9 years professional experience in a testing environment, preferably in the UNIX environment.
  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
