Space Protection Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

The Protection Engineering Lead directs and supports the systems engineering effort for the protection functionality for a major system acquisitions and capability and interfaces with other Indications and Warning (I&W) sensors for ground integration. The lead provides technical support, and consultation supporting multiple aspects of a major protection-related system and the associated acquisition. These efforts span both established and emerging protection and I&W system acquisition initiatives. The lead supports full lifecycle acquisition across all facets of a complex national systems architecture. Specific responsibilities include:
- Assessing requirements, CONOPs, architecture products, system/segment schedules, system resiliency, and risks regarding the integration and delivery of a space/ground system.
- Supporting test and verification strategy and the system integration of new initiatives in support of expanded mission capabilities for offensive/defensive capabilities.
- Serve as the primary representative for protection, collaborating with systems engineers and stakeholders, and developers to drive resolution plans and strategies for complex technical challenges.
- Support strategic planning for capability acquisition, insertion, and delivery.
The Protection Engineering Lead designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.


Qualifications

- Requires 12 to 15 years with BS/BA or 10 to 13 years with MS/MA or 7 to 9 years with Ph.D.

- Knowledge in the I&W and Defense mission domain and space system capabilities, sensors, and vulnerabilities, with significant experience and detailed knowledge in adversarial threats and threat timelines.
- Demonstrated technical leadership integrated engineering teams.
- Knowledge of Ground systems and overall Space and Ground Architecture.
- Experience with MBSE, SysML applications, digital tools, Confluence, and Jira.
