Develop customer/channel forecasts on an item level to maximize sales and optimize inventory investment. This position champions the Customers needs throughout the company across various departments/divisions.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Manage the implementation, communication and coordination of forecasts of specific categories (such as Bakeware, Party, and Candy) as it relates to marketing/sales, promotions, new product, discontinued product and availability concerns.

  • Attend and lead weekly Inventory Initiative Meetings with the division.

  • Present sales analysis/forecast information to Senior Management.

  • Collaborate directly with the customer at the replenishment level to develop and verify forecasts and our expectations of the business with the customer at a unit item level.

  • Assist the Team Lead with the hiring of Demand Planners.

  • Assists the Team Lead with the training and mentoring of Demand Planners.

  • Develops accurate SKU/Item demand forecasts using current & historical shipment information, market trends and POS (where applicable).

  • Interacts and communicates with sales, marketing, purchasing, supply planning and other departments as appropriate to obtain current and accurate information.

  • Identify key trends in forecasts, order history, POS data, promotional events and seasonality of key items.

  • Update forecasts on a monthly basis, propose and present recommended forecast changes, understanding the revenue and inventory impact.

  • Meet monthly at a minimum to review forecasts with seller(s) and reach a consensus regarding expectations of the customer in regards to dollars shipped when.

  • Identifies and communicates inventory and service risks relating to forecast changes or promotional timing.

  • Monitor actual shipment vs forecast and communicate significant variances and associated risks to Seller(s) and Team Lead.

  • Maintain the integrity of the forecasting database.

  • Assists the Team Lead as needed in preparation and presentation of materials needed for monthly meetings.

  • Assists the Team Lead as needed, such as ad hoc reports as requested.

  • Communicate with Inventory Analyst regarding promotion events, inventory levels, forecast accuracy and new products to ensure inventory availability for customers and achieve a 96% service fill level.

Education and Experience:



  • 5-7 years of related experience in forecasting, buying or planning experience preferably in a consumer product, retail manufacturing, or retail environment

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Logistics, Finance, Marketing or related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Prior experience and/or knowledge of major forecasting systems/software. JDEdwards experience is highly preferred

  • Strong analysis skills

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to interact with upper management and different groups such as marketing, finance and transportation in a fast paced environment and make independent decisions based on all of the inputs

  • Business acumen and the ability to visualize the big picture with attention to detail. Strong team player as well as a self-starter
