Our Bank has an exciting opportunity for an Sr. Executive Communications Advisor (Executive Speechwriter) to join our Communications team! The Communications + Experience team is dedicated to telling the story of the SF Fed's work, unleashing the power of our brand, and bringing the Bank's strategy to life in meaningful, memorable, and relatable ways. By integrating our employee and external communications efforts, we share our public service story more cohesively and impactfully inside and outside the Bank.

In this role, you will craft essential communications for our leadership team to include writing and editing speeches, talking points, white papers, opinion pieces and other communications on monetary policy and other topics. You will be a key player on our team helping us move our vision forward as a community-engaged Bank, who is striving to be the gold standard of public service. Our ideal candidate has ten or more years of writing executive level c ommunications in the public or private sectors. You also have experience coaching leaders to further develop their speaking skills, and finding their unique "voice". You are skilled at identifying an organizations strategy and communicating it effectively, creating compelling content, talking points, and toolkits that reinforce the vision, strategic priorities, and key messaging.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides dedicated support to the CEO + President to craft a communication strategy, draft compelling and authentic by-lined content, fireside chat talking points, social media posts, and support other content creation needs.
  • Works closely with executive leaders (ELT members, MC members, Regional Executives) to define their voice and draft compelling and authentic by-lined content, speeches, and social media posts.
  • Creates toolkits and talking points to ensure executive leaders are disseminating our key messages and strategic priorities to the world.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Communications + Experience to ensure executive communications are optimally aligned and leveraged (where appropriate) across external and internal channels.
  • Craft external communication strategies for the broad leadership team, including Executive Leadership Team, Management Committee members, Regional Executives, and Board of Director members to disseminate the Bank's key messaging and strategic priorities to the world.
  • Proactively identify venues, events, and platforms where Bank leaders can show up, tell our story, and create new points of engagement.
  • Influence and coach leaders on Bank wide messaging and help them develop their own individual tone and style.
  • Support the SF Fed President's Economic Speech Writer with "first-drafts" of communications (i.e talking points, Board Self-Assessments, and provide back-up coverage.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or related field or equivalent experience. Advanced degree very desirable.
  • Typically requires ten or more years of related experience writing and editing executive-level communications in the public or private sectors.
  • Industry certifications in corporate communications, public relations, and marketing.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Power Point, and MS Word.
  • High "EQ" and ability to thrive in a dynamic and very fluid environment.
  • Expert writer and editor with knowledge of APA writing style.
  • Proficient in event design and production.
  • Knowledge of central banking, financial markets, and policy is a strong plus.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Green Card Holder with the intent to become a U.S. Citizen.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 15% after health emergency.
