A Day in the Life

Through strong strategic & innovative thinking and close collaboration and alignment with the rest of the Canadian Diabetes Leadership team, this position will manage the Diabetes Inside Sales team. Develops the strategy and then the execution plans for all elements of Inside Sales. Responsible for delivering sales revenue in line with targets set while fostering a work environment conducive to excellent transactional quality, staff motivation and productivity, customer service, learning, teamwork, execution and accountability. Improve and standardize processes by determining and leveraging best practices, identifying opportunities for increased productivity, and developing and implementing solutions.

Provides leadership to direct reports (Inside Sales Supervisor, Inside Sales Team leads, and Inside Sales consultants). Through supervisors and team members, has responsibility for the effective daily operation of the Diabetes Inside Sales department in accordance with customer requirements and company standards by providing strategic direction and leadership for day-to-day activities. Develop and implement process improvements to increase sales, sales conversion, customer satisfaction, effectiveness and efficiency. Develop, prepare, analyze, communicate and report key KPIs to leadership for the department. Provide supervision, performance measurement, coaching and mentoring and recruitment. Collaborate on strategy with Regional Managers and interface with other internal departments and customers to resolve escalated issues. Drive sales conversion for EP-Out of Warranty (OOW) sales as well as high conversion of New to insulin therapy sales (NP). Develop and implement process improvements to increase sales, effectiveness and efficiency within this area.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Remotely sells Medtronic's products and retains end-user patients within an assigned geographic area and /or specific customer accounts for pre-defined territory locations to achieve or exceed assigned sales goals.
  • Identify, develop and close leads for the business and refer on internal leads when appropriate.
  • Provides input on new markets, new product introductions, and existing products or supplies.
  • Promotes and establishes education of the company's products and/or services.
  • Manages and responds to customer concerns and problems.
  • Arranges demonstration of products by field sales representatives.
  • Assists the field sales representatives in the planning and execution of sales activities as well as providing on-going sales support including sales calls, data analysis, customer opportunities, and sales rep follow-up.
  • Strategic workforce planning to support business growth and expansion (including new business models, where applicable);
  • Responsible for delivering national field sales revenue in line with targets set including both EP (OOW) and NP, working with team supervisor(s) and team leads. Manage and lead those teams and provide performance management and coaching;
  • Assist in workflow optimization and scheduling to meet required sales conversation and service levels.
  • Recommend and implement, when needed, process and tool enhancements or modifications to ensure continuous improvement for sales conversation and customer experience
  • Handle escalated customer, process, system and employee issues
  • Prepare, report, and participate in the analysis of KPIs/scorecards and other projects, developing strategies to ensure that department goals and objectives are successful
  • Forecast, plan and implement department strategy and department staffing/work schedules;
  • Liaise with Regional Sales Managers as well as Diabetes Leadership team on inside sales strategy and priorities
  • Adhere to all procedures and work instructions in performing the job.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience.
  • A Master's degree is required with a minimum of 7 years of relevant sales experience.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Call Centre practices and leadership.
  • Proven experience in managing, leading and developing people.
  • Proven track record of improving processes and results.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive customer sales and customer experience strategic focus.
  • Results and performance driven with proactive bias for action & sense of urgency on priorities.
  • Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn other customer specific proprietary systems are preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, interdependent partnering skills, collaboration competencies; within and across organizations.
  • Prior medical device sales or indsutry experience is highly preferred.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge and understanding of Diabetes and/or Durable Medical Equipment.
  • Experience administering and navigating health insurance plans and processes.
  • Experience using SAP R/3, SAP CRM, Business Warehouse (BW), Salesforce, Word, Excel.
  • Previous Healthcare or Consumer Package Goods industry experience preferred .
  • Experience with Lean Sigma methodology.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.
