Reporting to the Cardiac Ablation Solutions Integration Leader, the Sr. Strategic Planning Manager is responsible for leading projects in diverse areas of business integrations with rigorous, fact-based strategic decisions within the Cardiac Ablation Solutions (CAS) Operating Unit (OU), part of the CV Portfolio in Medtronic.

Success in the role will rely heavily on the ability to manage cross-functional teams and prioritize projects, synthesize complex data and information into succinct findings, derive strategic insights, and communicate findings and perspectives to all levels of the organization, including senior and executive management.

The Sr. Strategic Planning Manager must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, collaboration, and communication skills (both oral and written). This individual will work collaboratively with team members across within CAS and across OUs and functions, with emphasis on coordination of integration and regional activities, to manage the development of processes for the new business segments, tools and outputs that support business transformation, strategic decision making and execution. This individual will also act as an independent voice to the Integration Leader and assist in facilitating effective decision making, coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives, integration activities and manage the weekly and quarterly Integration meeting agendas, actions, minutes, and goals to drive accountability and results. This individual will be responsible for supporting presentations regarding integrations and on-boarding new employee base, and other internal and external partners as needed.

A Day in the Life:

  • Play a leadership role in the integration planning process for the Cardiac Ablation Solutions OU, working in collaboration with the cross functional integration team, integration leader and regional partners
  • Lead and attend onsite diligence and post-acquisition visits, facilitating relationships with individuals from the target organization and acting as a liaison between target and Medtronic teams
  • Coordinate quantitative and qualitative analyses in operations, marketing, business development, and product development in support of strategic direction and communicate recommendations around issues; support analyses with sound data collection
  • Coordinate and lead integration initiatives among cross-functional groups/ businesses and regional partners through strategic thought and active participation in decision analysis using internal and external data, problem formulation, meeting facilitation, data collection, and communications to senior management
  • Lead activities to incorporating the integration business segment/products into the IBP process for the Cardiac Ablation Solutions division
  • Facilitate the integration leadership team meetings by coordinating the weekly/quarterly agenda, actions, and minutes, to help drive effective decision making and execution of objectives and in alignment with the vision and strategic direction of the organization
  • Create and manage schedules to ensure key integration milestones are met and are communicated to integration team members and senior management
  • Create content for weekly leadership updates including scorecards, accomplishments and escalations
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop annual and quarterly goals for the integration team, track progress and report on performance
  • Support the development of content for quarterly integration updates to the global employee base, Acquisition Oversight Board (AOB), Integration Steering Committee / Integration Review Board and other leadership forums
  • Create materials for program contracts required for the Integration Review Board and CAS Product Review Committee (PRC); track and provide quarterly measures against contact
  • Act as a liaison between the integration team and regional partners to build strategies for global expansion
  • Lead the preparation (via cross-functional stakeholder management) of quarterly integration reviews globally
  • Partner with Marketing and Training and education to support commercial planning activities required for a successful global launch of the products
  • Manage the quarterly all employee messaging activities and ensure the voice of employees are being reflected
  • Attend global business reviews and support regional teams with qualitative and quantitative analysis to achieve integration goals
  • Build a sound understanding of the deal model structure, assumptions and economics; utilize this to drive business decisions including launch targets, product forecast and deal KPIs

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience leading and managing the execution of programs and processes in a marketing, sales or technical role.

Nice to Have
  • Requires specialized and mastery level business knowledge, general/broad management and leadership capability to lead multiple business or functional teams.
  • Typically has broad practical experience across multiple professional disciplines within the organization, combining theory, past practical experience and the organization's business practices.
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, management consulting and/or investment banking desirable
  • Experience in a Business Development and/or Strategy function
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Demonstrated success in people or program management
  • Experience generating creative new business ideas and strategies
  • Experience leading or managing teams and change initiatives
  • Outstanding analytical abilities, financial acumen and business judgment
  • Experience in financial modeling including the ability to perform sensitivity analyses and critically interpret the results
  • Experience with developing strategic business plans
  • Strong understanding of market research techniques and ability to draw conclusions from the data
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex strategies and data in a clear and concise manner
  • Minimum travel requirements up to 20%.
