SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the manager in the direction, interpretation and administration of the Company's payroll and reporting activities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Confer with Human Resources to ensure policies and benefits relating to payroll are in place to provide proper compensation and reporting. Responsible for coordinating and supervising activities of assigned staff. Manages the timely production of payrolls and taxes. Assists manager in system development and payroll processing. Works without direct supervision with some independent decision making responsibility. Supervises daily activity of assigned staff to produce timely payroll and related processing. Requires overall knowledge of HR and PR policies and procedures. May assist with implementation of Oracle HRMS and Nautical Systems, including enhancements and upgrades.
EDUCATION: Associate's degree in business or related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3 - 5 years payroll experience; prior supervisory experience, PC and system knowledge highly desirable.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.

OTHER: Oracle HCM system knowledge preferred.
JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
FLSA STATUS:
The position is Exempt. May require the ability to work overtime to meet required deadlines. All work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health are expected to be respected and complied.
