A Day in the Life:

As a Systems Engineer I, you will be part of the Medtronic Neuromodulation Systems Integration and Test Engineering organization. You will part of the team performing the evaluation of systems that involve programming platforms and algorithms, complex electronic circuits, wireless communication, batteries and a mix of consumer and medical technologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Defines and performs system characterization, verification and validation activities ensuring the behavior of the system meets user needs and intended use.
  • Review requirements for implantable medical device systems and features that meet the expectations and uses of the customer, regulatory agencies, and the business.
  • Part of the team that provides the evaluation and problem analysis of system issues across functional groups. This includes investigating and resolving system issues, making improvements to address customer feedback and requests, and leading testing activities.
  • Documents tradeoffs, rationale, and potential solutions.
  • Participate in technical architecture activities for system definition, including requirement partitioning, establishing performance measures, and well defined interfaces.
  • Participate in Risk Analysis activities, such as FMEA, and Hazard Analysis activities for systems, features, and implementations with the intent to eliminate or mitigate the risks in the identified scenarios.
  • Identifies and solves system issues both internally during development and post launch field issues.
  • Provides support to customers and clients for Neuromodulation systems.
  • Reviews technical literature and manuals.
  • Ensure personal understanding of all quality policy/system items that are applicable. Follow all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high quality work.

    Must Have Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

    Nice to Have:

    • Engineering MS degree preferred.
    • 2+ years of working with implantable medical systems
    • Experience in engineering biomedical systems
    • Experience with designing for the Hardware/Firmware interface of electronic devices
    • Experience in troubleshooting firmware and hardware issues using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal analyzers
    • Experience with writing software including Python
    • Experience working with ISO and Quality System Regulation requirements
    • Experience in System Engineering discipline or use of system engineering methodologies
    • Experience with statistics, modeling, design of experiments and data analysis
    • Demonstrated strong verbal/written communication
    • Experience working in cross-functional and team environments
    • Experience working in a FDA regulated and/or medical device environment
