Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and negotiate Sourcing activity, analyze and work with internal technical customers in developing functional specifications, prepare invitations to quote (RFQs), effectively source and obtain proposals on assigned requirements, and perform market analysis and prepare detailed negotiation plans and conduct effective commercial negotiations

  • Receive offers and obtain the necessary technical analysis, equalization and validation from the technical stakeholders.

  • Analyze commercial offers and proceed to their comparison and recommendations for equalization.

  • Elaborate negotiation strategies, taking into consideration the targets of the acquisition process.

  • Lead the negotiations with the selected suppliers, according to the defined strategy,

  • Negotiate, write, and execute contracts/agreements to ensure appropriate risk mitigation and exposure are being effectively managed, as well as commitments of both parties being respected.

  • Support internal customers, interface with them to ensure best overall value is being taken into consideration on all product/commodity acquisitions

  • Proactively manage assigned family classes, effectively identify and build regional strategies tied to specific commodities.

  • Ensure that these strategies include all corporate spend across multiple divisions

  • Utilize pricing and cost analysis techniques to ensure the corporation is receiving the best value.

  • Perform analysis on cost data and provide recommendations for cost savings and additional value-add items to internal stakeholders and Regional Sourcing Manager

  • Manage relationships between Vallourec companies and the suppliers in scope, including assisting with their qualification and evaluation

  • Analyze the work scope received regarding the stakeholders needs (includes critical analysis and suggestions for modification) against the market opportunities.

  • Share the work scope information received and participate in the arbitrations of who does what with the NA commodity management team.

  • Work with the Warehouse and Supply Chain teams to develop and implement a plan for minimizing the critical spare parts inventory.

  • Work with the Warehouse team to develop a robust process for monitoring and tracking the inventory levels at suppliers.

  • Interact with Corporate Sourcing to maximize effective use of national contracts.

  • Accomplish all details of Job Function listed above.

  • Support supplier management and development activity as outlined in the Sourcing Policy.

  • Represent Sourcing on special teams and committees within the organization or related areas.

  • Complete various tasks as assigned by company and functional management.

  • Comply with all EHS rules required for the work environment.


  • The position requires, at minimum a Bachelors degree; a concentration in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

  • This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Sourcing and/or Operations.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, effective negotiation skills, good understanding of cost-price, TCO analysis techniques, and a basic understanding of contract law.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand technical subjects, read drawings and technical specifications, procedures, process descriptions.

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondences, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and work formulas to achieve amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must be knowledgeable of ERP systems (SAP) and proficient in Microsoft Office environments (Excel, Word, Power Point, Office, etc.)
