About the Role:

As a key member of the Technical Product Owner organization within the CTO group, the API Platform Product Owner will drive and develop the end-to-end API and UX product and platform strategy. The TPO will also ensure timely delivery of capabilities, features and functionality based on the roadmap, company and technology group priorities. This role will be interacting closely with API/UX Center for enablement (C4E/Center of excellence) group, Architecture C4E, Cloud C4E, DevSecOps C4E, Infrastructure, SVB's Product Management team, as well as where needed business users and other key stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for synthesizing functional and technical requirements and prioritizing user stories, approving features in alignment with agreed upon acceptance criteria, and providing feedback to the team with a strong decision-making mindset.

The role requires a solid leadership skill and you will drive technology transformation and more specifically SVB's API and UX transformation journey, related products and features delivery from inception until the solution enters production. A strong engineering and technical leadership background are required to effectively communicate and work with a technical team on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop, maintain and execute the API and UX strategy, roadmap, goals to effectively enable SVB's Technology Transformation
  • Manage product backlog initiatives, epics, user stories, and cross-product dependencies
  • Present the roadmap, its progress and reporting to bank's leadership and stakeholders. Provides transparency on results and planning through accurate reporting
  • Oversee the overall delivery of API and UX capabilities as it aligns with business strategies, product vision and roadmap
  • Serve as the primary interface of the technology leaders and stakeholders with the agile delivery teams
  • Take ownership for ensuring a prioritized backlog is maintained so each program increment and sprint can be planned clearly and efficiently
  • Lead customer demos such as design walk-throughs or solution candidate test-drives
  • Provide internal and external stakeholders with the appropriate guidance and direction with regards to roadmap priority
  • Work with Tech Writers and OCM team to assist with communication, training and end-user documentation
  • Identify and leverage Beta clients to assist with developing and trialing new functionality and solutions
  • Support ongoing improvement initiatives and opportunities by applying deep understanding of applications, and platform architectures
  • Navigate through ambiguity, managing and coordinating multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ensure stakeholders are kept updated on team goals and product roadmap
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to serve as a champion for future capabilities needed at SVB.
  • Partner with product vendor(s) to support upgrades, identify new features needed for the platform and keep internal product roadmap aligned with changing business needs and priorities.
  • Post on internal social media sites covering topics such as new product/platform features, tips and soliciting input on new capabilities or enhancements

  • Proven ability to successfully manage product backlog in a fast-paced, product-centric environment 8 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to plan strategy while maintaining the current delivery commitments and priorities
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work directly with clients in user forum, round table, or customer outreach sessions
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile/Scrum
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in the Financial and FinTech Industry with a background with Credit, Payments, API's, Services, and Integrations is strongly desired
  • Understanding of key API concepts such as API Design, API Management, Developer Portals, Hybrid architecture, API development lifecycle, continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), source code management (SCM), test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD), and Everything as Code (EaC), including infrastructure, documentation, compliance, etc.
  • Familiarity with Scrum and SDLC processes a plus.
  • Strong leaderships skills, with the ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders to solve both enterprise-level and delivery-level problems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, to present and collaborate with executives and senior leadership and all levels in the organization

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Formal Product Owner training, such as CSPO, nice-to-have
  • Prior experience as a product owner or solution architect for API and UX Platforms is a must
  • Ability to influence people at all levels across a broad variety of job functions
  • Excellent organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of what's most important
  • Dashboarding skills and ability to present graphical analysis and intuitive reports on usage and adoption
