Whatever it takes.Thales is currently seeking a Test Set Engineering Technician in Orlando, FL. The Test Set Engineering Technician role involves the execution of a Preventive Maintenance program on the Thales Test Set equipment within the 145 Repair Shop. The duties will involve but is not limited to maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronics and electromechanical test equipment. The duties will also include configuration management of a database and inventory of spare test set hardware. Test Set Engineering Technician must be capable of repairing / maintaining a broad range of test equipment - ranging from Automated Electronic Bench to mechanical cleaning machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for executing the Preventative Maintenance plans for the respective test sets
Performing troubleshooting and repair on failed test sets in service
Developing Preventative Maintenance plans for new test sets being introduced to the repair shop
Assisting with the execution of the calibration program by removing and re-installing test equipment
Managing the software and hardware configurations of the test equipment
Managing an inventory of spare hardware for the repair and PM program
Assemble and validate the functionality of newly built test sets
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) plus 2 years experience OR Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (ASEET) plus 5 years experience OR 7 years of relevant experience in an electronics and/or electrical engineering field
1 year of experience in a role utilizing organizational skills to manage spare hardware inventory and test Set Configuration management
Ability to read technical literature, follow oral instructions and communicate with cross functional team members.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the use of electronic and/or electromechanical test equipment.
Must be able to work independently to a planned schedule, manage multiple assignments, and escalate issues when appropriate.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematic diagrams, and engineering instructions.
Ability to follow instructions and documented procedures.
Ability to develop documentation.
Moderate physical activity by handling objects up to 50+ pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Ability to develop electrical schematics.
Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Working knowledge of Linux
