You Will Be Responsible For:


  • Coordinates all class programming which includes: scheduling classes and instructors to teach classes, card issuing, equipment maintenance, and class set-up.
  • Teaches community classes which includes proficient instructional skills, physical dexterity, transporting and cleaning equipment, evaluating student performance, and ensuring completion of required paperwork.
  • Handles the management and storage of Training Center records.
  • Responsible for the security and distribution of course completion cards.
  • Responsible for the security and distribution of exams to instructors and Training Sites.
  • Manages instructors and Training Sites for the Training Center which includes annual evaluation and check-off of skills.
  • Monitor Training Sites and Individual instructors on a regular basis.
  • Manages instructor alignment on the AHA Instructor Network (IN).
  • Appoints and manages all Training Center Faculty (TCF) for the Training Center.
  • Schedules classes at all outlying campus.
  • Sends invoices and assures payments are made for all purchases by instructors and Training Sites.
  • Records all transactions on the department profit/loss sheets for the CPR cost center.
  • Assures all equipment (mannequins, AV equipment) is in good working order for classes.
  • Represents AHSM on Johnson County Heartsafe Foundation Board.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to interface positively with all customers, employees and site members fostering high quality service.
  • Utilizes ACT during all service recovery interactions (Acknowledge, Correct, and Thank).
  • Promotes community wellness programs to the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality during all interpersonal interactions (including phone interactions and hallway interactions).
  • Demonstrates professional demeanor and appearance in accordance with AH dress code policy.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains and keeps current BLS and ACLS instructor Certifications and flu vaccinations per AH policies.
  • Follows all department and AH procedures.
  • Follow AH attendance and on-time policy. Be set-up and ready to go before classes and clean-up/assure all equipment used for program is put away at the end of each class.
  • Participates in team meetings and maintains core competencies.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with computers. Proficiency with ABC Fitness software and excel.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies necessary for delivery of services. This includes taking inventory and stocking CPR service room.
  • Assists in orientation of new team members.
  • Accepts additional workload, as needed, including assistance with annual profit loss tracker and computer assistance.
  • Prepares CPR classrooms for classes, including: space is clean and organized for class instruction and mannequins, equipment, and AV is set-up and ready for class in a timely manner.
  • Assure that all equipment is cleaned and returned to its designated space after use using proper cleaning protocol.
  • Demonstrates extraordinary professionalism when representing AH in the community and corporate settings.
  • Coordinates the PALS Training Site at AHSM.

What You Will Need:

High School education required

2+ years of CPR/health & safety instruction experience

2+ years program coordinating and/or administration skills

BLS and ACLS instructor certification obtained through the American Heart Association

Job Summary:

The Training Center Coordinator (TCC) coordinates the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission American Heart Association Training Center (AHSMAHATC), American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training Site, and the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and PALS classes for community members, team members and physicians. The TCC also represents the AHSMTC for the AHA and serves as the primary contact between the AHSMTC and AHA Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) programs. Provides health and safety education to the AdventHealth community by coordinating annual class schedule, staffing classes, teaching CPR classes, working community health events, and promoting safety education. The TCC also works with Community Benefit to align the program with annual Community Benefit goals. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and staffing community health fairs, billing and finance reconciliation and equipment/supply ordering and maintenance.
